While I was out and about, I decided to head over to Walgreens and stock up on Christmas candles at their 75% Christmas clearance sale. Figure if the ex has the electricity shut off [as he has in the past], than at least I will have candles for light, eh.
So I was in this crowded aisle with all these other women, grabbing all these clearance items, when one of the women turned to me...out of everyone else jammed in that aisle...and remarked, "is this ever cute," as she held up this huge Pooh Bear and Tigger snow globe for me to look at.
Before I go any further, let me explain about Pooh Bear and Tigger. Pam Aukerman, who was murdered by her ex-husband, Officer Kevin Brainard [Plainwell Michigan PD] on November 4, 2007, collected Pooh Bear and Tigger items. Pam even had Pooh Bear and Tigger Christmas ornaments and the Pooh Bear and Tigger Christmas village.
Immediately after Pam's murder, the Brainard family gained access to Pam's and Kevin's home and took everything out of the house...including all of Pam's belongings. The Aukerman's had not one item of their sister/daughter. And to make matters worse, one of the Brainard's would often post comments on the Pam Aukerman site, about the Pooh Bear and Tigger items of Pam's that they had taken from the house, after Pam's murder.
Well today, before I left for the post office, I called and chatted with Jen Aukerman [Pam's sister] and Jen was telling me how hard of a Christmas she had without her sister...and the other difficulties they are still facing with the Brainards in regards to settling Pam's estate. You know, my heart just went out to Jen...and what makes it so frustrating for me, is that as Jen's advocate I can't just get in my car and drive up to be with her through these rough times, because [ahem] according to the ex, the ex's attorney, and the court, I don't deserve a vehicle.
So I was feeling like I was really letting Jen down by not being there for her and knowing how hard Christmas is for her without her sister...and wishing that broke ass me could do something...just anything...to brighten her mood just a little bit.
And now, here I am standing in this crowded aisle at Walgreens with this woman showing me of all things, a Pooh Bear and Tigger Christmas globe...what are the chances?
I grabbed the last snow globe off the shelf as I told the woman about Pam's murder...Pam's love of Pooh Bear and Tigger...and the significance of this snow globe to her sister.
When I got home, I called Jen and told her about the snow globe that I had purchased for her...and how I would have never picked it up, if this stranger in the store had not talked to me. "You know Jen, it was as if Pam was taping me on the shoulder and saying, 'Hey, I want that...'."
So now, Jen now has a Pooh Bear and Tigger Christmas decoration, that Jen and I would like to believe that Pam herself picked out ;)
